John Wong

Director

John Wong moved from his native Curaçao to the Netherlands to study at the Technical University of Delft where he gained a masters degree (Civil Engineering - specialisation building physics). He also received a masters degree in Business Administration at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam (Rotterdam School of Business).
After his studies he started his career at ABN Bank in the Netherlands. In the Planning and Control department (a department advising at board level), he specialised in strategy and organisational consultancy. His next move was to the Special Credits Department of ABN Bank, where he dealt with companies with financial problems and in particular to reduce the risks for the bank and to restructure debt facilities. Clients were medium sized to large listed corporations. Another responsibility was to provide advice requested by loan departments in respect of operations and additional investments and financing of clients.
In 1992 he joined the private equity business at ABN AMRO in Amsterdam. Here John focused on equity and mezzanines in small and medium sized companies in all industry sectors. Gradually the focus moved more towards information technology. When in 2000 the private equity sections were grouped to ABN AMRO Capital, John became part of the IT team investing in promising IT companies in western Europe. His activities concentrated on managing and realising exits of portfolio companies. His investment experience includes Atlantic Technologies, bArt, Nedcard and Keyprocessor and has occupied several board positions.
During 2006 he moved to Favonius. His responsibilities include investments in iRex Technologies (Netherlands) and Nuovafima SpA (Italy).
